Interview in Les Inrockuptibles: The “Paris” of Malcolm Mclaren. By Francis Dordor

One of my favorite projects in my decades long career, was the making of Malcolm McLaren’s cult album Paris.
Paris was released thirty years. This beautiful soundscape of the city Malcolm loved, featured the voices of none other than Françoise Hardy, Catherine Deneuve, Amina, Sonia Rykiel and Loulou de la Falaise. To celebrate this anniversary and to coincide with the Paris Olympics, Sony is re-releasing it for the first time as a double-vinyl album and online. Music journalist Francis Dordor covers the story of the making of this album in an extensive and well-informed piece for cult music magazine Les Inrockuptibles. You can read the piece In French and English by clicking here.

The Price of Business Show

Would you let your kid work in the fashion industry? Does your daughter want to become a model? Does your son want to design clothes?
Eugenia Melian spent thirty-five years in the fashion, music and advertising industry when she decided to self-publish her first novel Wildchilds. After working in Milan, Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles, during the years where we were not governed by access to social media or phone cameras Eugenia decided to write a true story about the world she knew, the world in which beautiful people do ugly things and get away with it.

The Cult Of Defense

Imagine an abused woman standing before you, perhaps still showing the clear signs of her injuries.

Envision a molested child in her place, facing a lifetime now dedicated to overcoming profound trauma.

Now consider what you would do if you had the power to confront and end the suffering of not just these individuals, but the innocent victims of similar tragedies. Your duty as a human being issues obvious marching orders. Every teaching of moral philosophy — every helix of human decency — demands you act to protect the victims and direct authorities to break the perpetrators (Go to the article)

(Ed. Fashion Sphinx Books).

Fashionable Book Review: Wildchilds by Eugenia Melian

It’s not often that one comes across a novel about the fashion industry, so when I received an email from Smith Publicity pitching Wildchilds, I was excited to dive right in.
Wildchilds by Eugenia Melian (Fashion Sphinx Books) combines two of my faves – suspense and fashion. It tells the story of Iris de Valade, a former 1990s Paris fashion model. Having given up her modeling career years ago, Iris is now a sculptor and lives in rural Northern California with Lou, her teenage daughter. Lou is greatly puzzled as to why her mother would walk away from the glamorous Parisian life of a model.
Why would she? Read the review.

The fashion industry, as seen from the outside, has a bad image and reputation. It’s all shine, puffery and surface. Is fashion only about beautiful women in stunning clothes?
I wrote Wildchilds because I wanted to delve deeply into that other side, the one which, as a player for four decades, knew so well. Go to the article.

Comfort eating, comfort buying. Two clicks and it's over. You wear it once.

Winter fell, we had no autumn this year in Madrid. In two days, I went from going to my market in a T shirt, to layering up and shivering my way through the local neighborhood shops. One lightbulb here, my 2019 diary, which I have to order from the stationary shop and wait for; it will take one week.  Read more
